What does it train you for?
The Bachelor is the only interclass L-8 / L-9 course activated at the University of Palermo.
Students choose the degree class at the time of first-year enrollment, but they can change the choice during the course; the final choice is made with the third-year enrollment.
The Course is taught entirely in English and it is aimed primarily at students from foreign countries, as well as Italian students who wish to undertake a course of study with an international vocation.
The Bachelor trains young professionals with basic and multidisciplinary skills in the cross-cutting cultural areas of Industrial and Information Engineering, with reference to safety, security, automation and management of production, distribution, and delivery processes of goods and services.
The Program is enriched with a large set of optional courses in specific areas of industrial or information engineering, which students can choose among, so to customize their professional profile according to preferred topics.
What do you learn?
The study program is strongly multidisciplinary and it is organized in four subjects’ groups:
- Basic subjects: mathematics, physics, chemistry, geometry, and informatics;
- Characterizing subjects for both degree classes: electrotechnics, measurements, automatic controls, mechanics, economics, and manufacturing;
- Cross-disciplinary subjects: electronics, signal processing, industrial energetics, computer-aided design;
- Groups of optional subjects, in specific I2E fields (electrical, electronic and automation engineering.
mechanical, aerospace and management engineering; energetics and nuclear engineering; chemical, biochemical, and biomedical engineering).
The study program is completed with free-choice courses and other training activities (stages, seminars, workshops, etc.), which allow students to further enhance their cultural background through the acquisition of transversal knowledge and skills, for entry into the world of work, or for continuing their studies in secondary university education.
What can you do with it?
The graduates can continue their studies in various MSc degree courses, both at University of Palermo (UNIPA) and at other Italian and foreign universities, thanks to the multidisciplinary training they have acquired and also based on the choices made regarding the customization of the training path.
Direct and debt-free access is possible to almost all MSc courses of UNIPA Department of Engineering, in relation to the optional courses selected during the Bachelor course.
The graduates also have several career opportunities as freelancers or within private organizations and public administrations, in various industrial engineering and ICT sectors (production, distribution, and delivery of goods and services), where the principles of industrial safety and security and information, automation, and management engineering play a prominent role.
