What is the objective of the course? What is it?
What does it train you for?

The objective of the Course is to train experts capable of operating in the various fields of animal science, including: the management of livestock, companion, wild, and non-conventional species, including fish; the production and preservation of forage and feed, as well as animal nutrition and feeding; the technical and economic management of livestock farms; animal welfare and environmental sustainability in light of technological and management innovations; the enhancement of livestock biodiversity with a specific focus on genetic improvement programs; the organization and technical management of quality control and certification processes within the animal product supply chain; and cooperation with other professional figures and assistance within veterinary facilities for the protection of animal health

What do you learn?

The educational program includes the acquisition of knowledge and skills in basic subjects such as mathematics, physics, biology, and chemistry, as well as core training activities related to the specificities of the profession.

These enable a full understanding of economics, animal production, the agro-livestock system, and animal health.

The program includes a training internship aimed at acquiring adequate practical preparation, utilizing public and private entities in the health and production sectors that support the educational project as stakeholders.

Students will have the opportunity to engage in cross-curricular educational activities aimed at acquiring soft skills, which will provide them with the personal and interpersonal abilities needed to face the professional world, such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving

What can you do with it?

Graduates in Animal Production Science and Technology can find employment as: expert technicians in the breeding, management, and welfare of livestock (including fish species), companion and non-conventional animals, and animals used for scientific purposes or sporting activities; technicians in agro-livestock companies for technical-economic assessment, management, and hygiene; feed manufacturing companies; companies managing and controlling primary livestock production and processing, as well as in laboratories providing support and consultancy to the animal production supply chain; hunting and wildlife estates and protected natural areas for the conservation and technical management of wildlife, in relation to the relevant agro-livestock and naturalistic context; and finally, in veterinary facilities, cooperating with other professionals to assist in various activities for the protection of animal health.

The natural progression of the Course is the Master’s Degree (LM-86), but it is also possible to continue studies by enrolling in a Master’s Degree in Agricultural Science and Technology (LM-69), Animal Biotechnology (LM-9), or Veterinary Medicine (LM-42).

Upon passing the State Examination, graduates can register with the Professional Order of Licensed Agricultural Technicians (Albo degli Agrotecnici Laureati) to practice technical consultancy, design, and management in the agricultural and livestock sectors
